Yee knows that Sing and some government officials are involved in manipulating the results for the public examinations as they allow the people of Foshan to place bets on the examination participants. He pretends to be Sing’s friends to protect himself. Ying goes to find Yee and tells him that she is pregnant with his baby, but Yee is indifferent to the news.
