It is an American adaptation of the 1988 Japanese television series Kamen Rider Black RX, and also serves a spinoff of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Masked Rider is notable (infamous?) for taking the rather dark Kamen Rider Black RX and turning it into a pseudo sitcom complete with a furry puppet sidekick called Ferbus.
