Overview
Set in 1930s Shanghai, the story opens with legendary gambler Gon and his vow to recover his father's casino from Shanghai tycoon Fung In his quest, he becomes acquainted with Sou and uncovers her fiance's nefarious conspiracy. Sou gives her heart to Gon, but he can't forget his old love Gu. Meanwhile, up-and-coming gangster Hui Man Keung is quickly making his name in Shanghai. Crossing paths during chaotic times, Hui, Gon, and Ding Lik become brothers and business partners, but Fung recruits Hui and Ding to his side through backhanded methods. Though deeply in love with Fung's daughter Ching Ching, Hui can only turn away from love and friendship when Fung's true nature is revealed. Fung, however, is not about to just let Hui walk away.

Overview
HAU does not want HOI to make any trouble. Thus she takes him to the hill so that he can stay away from gambling. KIN begs HOI to help him. HOI promises reluctantly and he gambles in the gambling stall. He discloses that the owner of the stall is a trickster. He gets KIN's money back and is welcome by other villagers. HAU is angry. KIN gets married and he makes jokes on the relationship between HAU and HOI. The relationship between them gets a further step of development. TAI LONG of Tin Lung Sect come to avenge his brother's death and get the name list of Japanese spies. He kidnaps HAU and HOI is shocked. He regains his memory. HAU pushes HOI away. Thinking that HAU has died, HOI jumps down the cliff. YIU bribes CHAN, who is the commissioner sent by the central government. YIU’s dirty tricks are disclosed by CHAN. YIU blames LIK and shirks the accusation to him.
