Tegenlicht in Dutch or Backlight in English is a series of television documentaries by the VPRO, a Dutch public broadcasting organisation. Backlight "aims to grasp the quintessence of prominent trends and developments" in the practice of critical journalism, and tries to improve understanding of the intricate inner workings of our modern society.

Overview
In het Westen is het begrip 'waarheid' onverbrekelijk verbonden met de Verlichting. Als sluitstuk van vier uitzendingen over waarheid zoekt Tegenlicht de confrontatie met het verlichtingsfundamentalisme. De Nederlandse filosoof Rob Wijnberg (1982) gaat in debat met de Britse filosoof John Gray. Diens laatste boek 'Zwarte Mis. Religieus fundamentalisme en de moderne utopieën’ (2007) leest als een pleidooi voor de afschaffing van de utopie.
