Overview
The swimmer wades in to the Hantan River at the DMZ Cheorwon in South Korea. The Hantan River flows from Pyonggang, North Korea, and joins the Han River in South Korea. It was also the birthplace of the Hantaa Virus; an airborne disease contracted from field mice droppings which caused severe illness in American troops during the Korean War.
