Biography
Simon Warnock is a first assistant director. He has worked on a wide range of feature films since the late 1990s. His early film credits include work as second assistant director on The Thin Red Line (1998) and The Phantom (1996). He moved into first assistant director for second unit roles on major productions such as The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002), and The Return of the King (2003). Over the years, he has worked on high-profile films including Alexander (2004), Syriana (2005), World Trade Center (2006), and Transformers (2007). He continued to collaborate on large-scale blockbusters such as Australia (2008), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), The Lone Ranger (2013), 47 Ronin (2013), Child 44 (2015), and San Andreas (2015). In 2016, he served as first assistant director on 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. He also worked on Ghost in the Shell (2017) and Detroit (2017), before contributing to the DC film Aquaman (2018). He was also the first assistant director on Eternals (2021). In television, Warnock has taken on first assistant director and co-producer roles. On the series Nine Perfect Strangers (2021–2025), he worked as a first assistant director on multiple episodes. He was credited as a co-producer for season 2. He was also first assistant director on the miniseries Expats (2023) and Faraway Downs (2023).
