Biography

Nguyễn Xuân Khoát (11 February 1910 - 7 May 1933) was a Vietnamese musician and composer. A leading figure in the radical artists collective “Xuân Thu nhã tập” and often regarded as a pioneer in pre-war modern Vietnamese music, he played an influential role in the revival of ca trù in both performing arts and academic musicology research. Additionally, he was the first president of the Vietnam Composers' Association, and posthumously in 1996 was a recipient of the Hồ Chí Minh Prize.
