Biography

Ugo Falangola (March 31, 1879 – May 30, 1964) was an Italian film director and producer. One of the pioneers of the Recife Cycle (Ciclo do Recife) film movement, Ugo Falangola was born in Italy and moved to Pernambuco in 1922. He worked on government-sponsored documentaries that were screened before feature films, most notably the classic Veneza Americana (1925), one of the oldest surviving film records featuring images of Recife’s modernization.
