Biography

Valerie C. Woods is the Emmy winning Co-Executive Producer/writer for the Disney+ series The Crossover. Previously, (2021-22) she was Writer/Co-Executive Producer on Season 2 of the Netflix drama series Sweet Magnolias. She also worked in the same position for Season 4 (2018-2019) of the critically acclaimed television drama series Queen Sugar, airing on Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Ms. Woods is in development, through her MCV Productions banner, on the television series adaptation of A Cowboy to Remember, the Cowboys of California trilogy of novels by Rebekah Weatherspoon. Also in development is a television adaptation based on Wrapped in Rainbows - The Life of Zora Neale Hurston, the award-winning biography written by Valerie Boyd, as well as an adaptation of the Christmas themed historical romance, Homecoming, from the short story by acclaimed novelist, Beverly Jenkins. During Valerie's 25+ years as a member of WGAw, her credits include Co-Executive Producer/Writer on the drama series, Any Day Now on Lifetime Network. Her episode "Family is Family" was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award and Consulting Producer/Writer for the drama series, Soul Food on Showtime Network. Her career began after being awarded a Screenwriting Fellowship with Walt Disney Studios.
